Our Special Education Needs (SEN) department employs a holistic approach to ensure students with challenges receive personalized support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our SEN team comprises of highly qualified educators who collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Additionally, our inclusive classroom environments foster a culture of acceptance, understanding, and respect for all students, promoting peer learning and collaboration.
An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is a personalized document designed to meet the unique needs of each student identified with a learning challenge. At Cochin International School, our Special Education Department places great emphasis on the development and implementation of IEPs to ensure that their students receive the necessary support and resources to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.
We have established a thorough process for the identification and assessment of students who may benefit from special education support. Our goal is to ensure that every student's unique learning needs are recognised and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
The SEN department at Cochin International School provides support through three distinct levels of services:
** SEN support: This level involves direct assistance from a special educator who specializes in addressing the unique needs of students with disabilities.
** SEN support with Learning Support Teacher: This involves having a Learning Support Teacher who aids the child in executing specific interventions and adjustments customized to their unique learning needs, while also fostering collaboration among the SEN department, class teacher and parents.
**SEN support with Chechi(Helper): Utilizing the combined efforts of a special educator and a Chechi (Helper) to ensure comprehensive support, addressing both academic and non-academic needs effectively.
